However, most guests prefer to catch large numbers of fish (30 – 60 per boat per day) with 5 to 10% of them over eight pounds and a reasonable chance at a trophy of 20 pounds or more.
In three decades of fishing our collection of 14 private rivers, we have identified certain habitats that hold the most world record-class fish.
These fisheries, though, never hold large numbers of fish. We find that most returning guests prefer lots of action! The mix we strive for is an abundance of 8 to 12-pound fish with two to five trophies per boat of 18 pounds or more for the week.
Our conventional lodges are situated on shallow, rocky, non-navigable rivers that are reserved for fly fishing.

These clear waters offer fly anglers world-class sight casting opportunities for a variety of exotic species.
Even when targeting peacocks specifically, other species make up 10 – 20% of our catch. That variety — plus the option of a 1-day Arapaima Lagoon Extension — is ideal for most guests.
But if you want to catch closer to a 50-50 mix of peacocks and other species, our conventional lodges along rocky rivers offer much more variety.
No problem! Many guests are surprised to learn that biting insects are rare in the areas we fish.
There are a variety of reasons for that, including the high tannin levels in the water. The only time you’re likely to encounter biting insects is if you visit a human community in the jungle.
We do too! If you want to fish hard all day, no problem, but we encourage guests to return to the cabanas for lunch and a nap in the air-conditioning. The River Train can be moored at almost any time according to your wishes.
We can accommodate parties of eight where each guest has a single-occupancy cabana. Please contact us to make arrangements.
Our River Trains are ideal, combining well-appointed 320-square-foot guest cabanas, exceptional dining, and world-class service with the mobility to go wherever the prime water levels are. Learn more about our cabanas and the best water levels to fish.
We can and do accommodate large corporate or family groups, but we ask that you call us well ahead of time to make arrangements. Our River Trains are designed for no more than eight guests each, and our float planes also have limited capacity, so special planning is required.
Both accomodations offer lots of opportunities for eco-adventures, exploring and just soaking in the spectacular Amazonian scenery. If you need help planning your trip, let our experienced team help tailor the perfect experience.
Visits to indigenous villages can be planned on any of our trips.

With more than 30 years experience in the region, our hosts are well known and welcomed. Just let us know you’d like to include a visit. Other non-fishing activities can also be planned.
