EXPERIENCED, HIGHLY TRAINED GUIDES

River Plate guides are far more than just boat drivers. Recruited from the local communities that protect our 14 private rivers, most have literally grown up on the waters we fish. Their skills are further developed through our exclusive guide training program, in which they focus on fishing techniques, conservation, boat handling, safety, and customer service. Many have guided with us for 20 years or more.

THE RIGHT BOATS FOR THE JOB

Heavy, American-style fiberglass bass boats aren’t well suited for the Amazon, where shallow sandbars frequently restrict access to the best fishing. Instead, we use lightweight aluminum tunnel-hull boats with 40 hp outboards that can operate in extremely shallow water. These 20-foot boats include all the features of a bass boat — trolling motors, swivel casting seats, etc. — but are far better suited to our waters.
